Cindy Kelly, CPA, CVA, is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Valuation Analyst. Cindy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Montana. She obtained her license in one sitting for the CPA exam. Cindy has decades of experience in tax, litigation support, business advisory services, and as a chief financial officer.
Cindy began her career in public accounting, where she quickly advanced to an ownership position in a CPA firm with 60 employees at the largest office in Montana. During that time, Cindy specialized in many areas of tax and managed a diverse client base to include banks, consolidated groups, auto dealerships, real estate development, oil and gas drilling partnerships, manufacturing, medical clinics and practices, and law firms. She also specialized in litigation support as an expert witness in large contract damage cases, personal injury, and marital dissolution. She gained more valuable experience managing the tax team, which represented ½ of the firm’s volume in revenue. This included hiring, training, internal procedures, writing and teaching tax classes, quality control, and department profitability.
After many years in public accounting, Cindy was asked to join a national company with gross revenues ultimately exceeding $200,000,000. She directed the conversion of the financial statements of 12+ companies from Quickbooks to Microsoft SL Dynamics. She built an accounting team, developed internal controls, all related procedures for accounting, payroll, fiscal employer agent activities, accounts payable, management of cash and the line of credit, Medicaid authorizations, and data entry. At one point, her staff count approximated 100 people. She also had full oversight of all tax planning and compliance, entity selection, tax audits, spin-offs, a company sale, and a tax free organization to move 19 brother/sister companies into a QSUB controlled group.
Striving for work-life balance, Cindy is now contracted with PJS & Co. CPAS to provide business advisory and tax services. In addition to this role, Cindy is a Virtual CFO for small growing businesses, and provides litigation support services.
Cindy is a member of AICPA, the Montana Society of CPAS, and the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. Her hobbies include dancing, hiking and spending time with friends and family. She is the proud mother of two who are currently attending college.
